Any ideas how long was the Windsmoor Made in England label in use?

Hi all, I came across a lovely Windsmoor wool coat (see photos) which has a Windsmoor Made in London label which looks very similar to the one in the label resource for the 1970s. I'm not sure however how long this label was in use, and not confident enough to use style to age the coat.

It's in fantastic condition (apart from minor discolouration to the lining), and my guess would be its deadstock from a clearance. It has a composition label, but no care label. It also has a paper tag attached with the style number, etc on which someone has hand written the size. I'm wondering whether the 83 might be relevant?

If anyone knows about when the label transitioned, or has any thoughts about age based on style, I'd really appreciate it.

Hmm... I do think this is 70s ish, based on that composition label, lack of care label, and the style. But I'm not sure. Possibly even late 60s, given there's no care instructions?

I don't think it's later than 70s, so no I don't think the 83 is referring to a year.

Hopefully someone will have more confidence on dating it by the style.

Many thanks to you all, I really appreciate your input. It’s a lovely coat, and if it’s really close to 50 years old, its certainly in better condition than I am!

Hello Impey,

The coat is in lovely condition.

I'm going to date it between 1977 and 1982.

Windmoor, ( now owned by Jacques Vert ) first established in 1933 and trade marked in 1939, owner Lionel Green started it with his two brothers, died in 1991.

Survived by a son, Sir Allan Green, who became Director of Public Prosecutions for the UK and a emanate barrister in his own right.
