Anyone a vintage scarf guru? Vogel?

Hi gals!

I am researching a vintage scarf and the only query online that keeps popping up is this particular website with the reference to Vogel & Co. in the 1920's and 30's.

http://www.jakobschlaepfer.com/en/about-us/history/

I have been able to find no information on the products, items, or designer of Vogel & Co. and I have a beautiful scarf with "The Storyteller Of Bagdad Year 1239" S. Musikar on one corner, and "Paris New York, Vogel, Pure Silk, and a word that appears to be a name of Jehan". It was my great grandmothers, likely purchased in the San Francisco, CA area.

Anyone ever run across anything from this maker Vogel?
As always, thank you! -Karen

I *love* this scarf. Based purely on the website info, it suggests that 'Vogel' as a maker name (if it indeed that Vogel) would have disappeared in 1934 - does that resonate with the style? I know little about scarfs.

The Arabic *looks* like an actual translation (well, I can read 'Baghdad' and what is possibly the date, but my arabic goes no further than that...), which, I've found, is unusual for U.S. products. 'Jehan' could be an Arabic name here, if that is what it says.

Scratching my head over the 1239 date, and who the storyteller might be, but here's the Met Museum's summary of the culture in Baghdad in the early thirteenth century:

"Baghdad is a famous center for the arts of the book during this period. Paper usage makes possible the production of books for a broader audience, including the urban bourgeoisie. The major cAbbasid library in Baghdad promotes the transmission of knowledge. Illustrated texts are popular and new tastes stimulate artistic vitality."

I was thinking that Vintage-Voyager would love this the second it pooped up on the screen.

Nothing to add about the maker--just that it's fabulous!

This is probably a Fifties or early Sixties design when textile designs were influenced by increased travel and ethnic imagery was popular. I've seen Vogel on another scarf. I don't know whether there is a connection with the Vogel & Co link. There was a theatre designer B. Vogel? It's a rather nice design.

Thank you for all the wonderful feedback! This piece is one of about 30 I have.. some are marked; Vera, Marchesa Olga Di Gresy, I. Magnin, Anne Fogarty, some more recent Oscar De La Renta, Echo.. solids, prints, Pucci-esqe, florals, Some are marked, the best ones aren't; there's a beautiful cream large square with a polka dot border, brown, yellow, brick red and blue with bullfighters, bulls, the red cape, guitars, it's just incredible. I have questions on one or two more, I'll include that in this thread.. I'll post more photos tomorrow in the other Rag Brag thread so you can take a peek at the others, they are really inspiring me to wear them and enjoy them!

I have only done a cursory search for information about Vogel Co. and concentrated my search in NY papers, because of the NY label information. I have no way of knowing yet if this is your Vogel, but a 1929 NY Times noted the new incorporation of the
