Anyone cooking this weekend?

I'm cooking. Making escarole soup, stuffed artichokes, asparagas, homade mac and cheese, salmon wrapped in phyllo, tiramisu, Bailey's cream puffs and ricotta wheat pie. I'm not fond of that pie but everyone else seems to like it.

Also having pitchers of orange chocolate martini's. This time of year is perfect for them because you can place those little foiled chocolate eggs in each martini glass (foil off ofcourse :D )

I'm making a chicken curry, zucchini bread, hummus and fresh strawberry poundcake

Oh wow - Tiffany and Beth - I want to come visit you guys for Easter!

I am having my family here - 7 adults and 4 kids, all under the age of 5. It's sort of a challenge to work out a menu that appeals to the dieting/low-carb grownups, and the picky kids. It doesn't help that the 40's stove, which looks great, only have one setting for the oven - "kiln."

Right now it looks like I'm making a veggie frittata, fruit salad, sesame asparagus, and bagels. My family is bringing mac and cheese (for the kids), a ham, and a birthday cake (one nephew is turning 3 on Monday).

Of course we'll have Easter Baskets, and, God help me, an Easter Egg hunt. So I'll be serving mimosas, to keep me from freaking out as the little guys and girl barrel around my very non-kid-proofed house.

Happy Easter and Happy Spring!

Susan

Last minute ham making tomorrow. Mashed potatoes with ham gravy, buns, veg salad, corn, dessert...mmmm

Next week, ham sandwiches, ham pie, cold ham reach-in-the-fridge-and-keep-on-walking.....

I will be there, too. YUM. Haven't even thought about cooking.

Likewise. Maybe I will reheat some leftover Chinese takeout from the back of the fridge. No Easter festivities here - the family is in Western NY and there hasn't been an Easter dinner in over 20 years, anyway. BUT, the local markets do have great ready-made stuff, so I could go get any number of great dishes without the hassle.

My thoughts were to try and make it to The Annual Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival!

Here are some images from last year.

I had to run to Macy's to this evening to return some crappy boots I bought two months ago and saw their Flower Show, which was uplifting, to say the least. Asked for and got a lovely Flower Show shopping bag.

HAM GRAVY?? How do you wring gravy out of a ham?? Don't they just make greasy, salty juice when they cook? :barf:
