Anyone have experience w/ private Insurer on international packages?

Hi All,

Anne (vintagebaubles) suggested I use a 3rd party/ private shipping insurance company for an international package i have to send:

I wonder if anyone has used this or any company, and if they paid quickly in the instance of a problem or loss, and how easy their claims were.

I'm so spoiled, have only had to use USPS insurance on a claim once, it was under $50 and they paid me on the spot.

but~ they arent feasable on large amounts or some international.

anyone have any experience? I hope not, lol. but.. just in case.

Though I've fortunately never had to file a claim, I also use DSI for all my international packages. It was recommended by many dealers on the jewelry lists I belong to, where lots and lots of international shipping goes on. It's actually cheaper than USPS (and also cheaper than UPIC insurance, which I remember some of the dealers also saying they used...)

I use u-pic.com as my 3rd party insurer. I am going through an international claim with them right now, so I can let you know what happens in the next 10 days or so.

I have dealt with them for a couple of claims which were US based and did not have any problems whatsoever. They are very efficient and easy to communicate with.

use DSI on iternational shipments and have never had a claim. I thougt I was going to one time whe I had somethng take 6 weeks to arrive in Italy, and they were very nice in explaining what I would have to do,

P.S. USPS denied the one domestic claim that I had to make with them.
