Anyone know anything about this label?

Hi,
I have a few items by a label called "Spaghetti London". Two beautiful, brightly coloured silk ladies waistcoats and an exquisite silk dress. A google search just brings up "spaghetti strap" tops. If anyone has heard of them or know anything about the history of this maker i would appreciate some information very much.

Thank you,

George

Welcome to VFG. As always, a photo of the garment in question and a closeup photo of the label gives us the best chance to be of help. But there were many garment makers out there who never generated much of a breadcrumb trail for modern fashion detectives.

I was totally stumped in uploading a photo! I have one, pressed the browse button, click on the phtoto but and then pressed preview. Nothing appeared and i gave up. Any hints appreciated. will try again.

still stuck with IMG

Attached photos will not show in preview. Just attach and post. If your photo is not too big it will show on your post.

You're welcome.

Cute label! I have never heard of the name before. But just judging from the label and little bit of fabric, it looks like late 60s or early 70s maybe?

A photo of the entire garment would be helpful.

A couple more bits of information:

Spaghetti (about 1/3 way down the page; photo with the lady on the left with the large pink hat on her forehead)

October 2002 article: "Frocks for the Cocktail Hour Nadia La Valle has been creating perfect cocktail dresses for a certain internal crowd of royals and socialites for a quarter of a century. On a recent visit to her small shop, Spaghetti (its name a nod to her homeland), we ogled a grass-green silk-linen shift hand-embroidered along the hem with glass-bead flowers ($2,305), a sandy-colored shift with an overdress of cotton latticework ($4,610), and a divine frock covered with cascading daisy appliqués ($2,305). The great news? Everything can be individually tailored. At 32 Beauchamp Pl.; 7584-0631."

and from a 2004 article: "London — In a small and somewhat hidden storefront on Beauchamp Place in London, a window dazzles with intricately beaded gowns and richly embroidered shawls. Nadia La Valle has been designing for thirty years and now creates her own line of haute couture called Spaghetti, in homage to her Italian heritage.

A 2005 article: "Lunch - Hidden, down and up a dirt road on the hillsides of Monfumo just behind Asolo is La Sconta the Italian country farmhouse of Suomi and Nadia La Valle. Though both Italian they have made London their home for over a quarter of a century and are also often seen in Paris, Tangiers and most recently in Bombay where Nadia has a design studio. Nadia is a very talented fashion and embroidery designer not only for the Paris haute couture but also for her own company, Spaghetti (a reminder of "home"), established in 1976 with a mythical fashion show launch in Elio Fiorucci's restaurant in Milan where top model Donna Jordan modeled the exquisite and unusual embroidered couture creations that over the years have found a following with the jet set, royalty and an international in-crowd. Let's get back to lunch, which isn't really just lunch at the La Valle's but a whole leisurely day party which starts with lots of Prosecco and ends with a trip to the cellar for a taste of Suomi's home-made grappa. And, in between there is also lots of music, dancing, good food, great and interesting friends from all over the world and as one would expect every detail is beautifully planned and arranged by the hostess herself - like the fresh flowers from the garden as center piece for the table setting.

and there was Elaine Paige

...she dances ... she sings and she dresses couture this a 2010 artcle regarding Elaine Paiges wardrobe.

Cocktail dresses:Almost all my cocktail dresses are in black, which looks elegant, especially for the evening. A few are by Armani, as they know me so well. I have some tailored pieces by Prada and I like a pencil skirt, due to my height. Flouncy items or bold prints swamp me.

Suits:One favourite is a wool boucle mix, with removable astrakhan cuffs and collar. It's a couture piece by Nadia La Valle at Spaghetti, who is retired. I wore it to collect my OBE at the Palace with a grey felt hat by Philip Treacy. I also have an apple green suit with a dark brown thread by Lacroix.

nice piece!

What wonderful information! Seeing as Spaghetti was established in '76, I think the waistcoat/top must be fairly soon after that date, because the style looks mid '70s. Interesting that although her label is top notch and expensive, the label itself is printed rather than woven. Oh well, you can see it's still a lovely piece.

Amazing!!! thank you all so much for shedding some light on these pieces.

So great to know that they are garments with a real history. Ill post pictures of the silk dress soon which i think is just wonderful. The two waistcoats and the dress were found sealed and hardly used in a large country mansion in the English country side.

All three pieces are for sale, so it's great to be able to put some kind of value to them. As i am in London i might be able to go and visit the shop!. I have a few other dresses from the same country estate with labels i know nothing about so will post pics of those soon too. What a wonderful resource this site is. Thanks

georgevintage, I suspect if you go looking for the shop you'll find it's no longer there - the article posted by DecoDiva mentions she's retired, and I'm inclined to think that if the shop was still there it would have turned up with your googling.
