I'm *finally* getting down to sorting and clearing my belongings in preparation for the final move.
This umbrella has fallen victim to the clear out. It's a 'Paragon' by Samuel Fox Ltd., with a patent number I can type here if needed.
I know Fox produced their new design of Paragons from about the mid nineteenth century onwards, but I have no idea of the date of this one. I assume 30s-50 because of the early plastic and bakelite in the construction, but for a narrower span, I have no clue.
This is quite a deep-shaped brolly, with light steel struts and spokes, a smoothly moving mechanism on a wooden shaft.
I'm pretty sure it's a bakelite handle, or at least part-bakelite, with two opaque layers sandwiching a honey-coloured translucent core. The same honey coloured plastic finishes off the spokes.

There are some weaknesses where the covering has been folded when furled. I think it's silk.

Any ideas??
