The dress is like a sheer voile(?) but has a nylon chiffon feel (does that make sense?), has a side metal zipper, belt and rhinestone trim. Love the pleating on the back bodice. How would you describe the pattern of the material and I assume this is 40s, right? I have this set to go on auction tonight, so just need confirmation.

Oh, and the dress was orginally longer. It has been taken up about 3 inches but not cut off..can always lengthen.

TIA.

Very nice linda! I do, and I think it's because I have one somewhere but I know nothing about it I'm afraid. Have you tried looking at the patent office? - might give you an exact date! :)

I have a dress from the 1940s by Jean Lang originals. I don't know anything about the company, though. My dress is made really well and I would guess my dress was not the cheapest but not the most expensive, either. I would agree with you that your dress is 40s. I'm not good at keywords but how about geometric to describe the pattern? Hope that helps-
