hello, i was wondering if anyone could confirm my translation if this label- I'm assuming it says " A Specially Designed Soamp-Taylor Model". Did a quick google search with this spelling- nothing. Does anyone know anything about this label? Also have i got the spelling right? Thanks guys!

....nothing about clothing however there was a British actress Enid Stamp -Taylor 1920's thru to 1946. ?!?

Hopefully someone more familiar with vintage can help you.

I agree with Rita. The dress is most likely the actress' own brand of clothing, not uncommon in the 40s and 50s. Did you do a search of EBay completed listings? It seems to me I've seen this name before-good luck!

I did a search for completed listings, good idea but it came up with nothing.
about enid- "Enid Stamp -Taylor 1920's thru to 1946" Was 1946 when she died? Or when she retired? I'm pretty sure the dress is 1950's, which is why i ask. Unless someone carried on her name of course. I can't find any information on her either. Thanks for everyones help

Yes, according to the international film database, she died in 1946. With "model" on the label, I would venture to guess it was a british line (not to mention we being born in the UK).

Lol, i meant to post a picture but forgot here it is:

It's a yellow taffeta halter neck, beautiful fabric. I love the neck line of this dress, the front bodice pannel is like a heart. You'll need to click on it for a larger picture, my software wouldn't allow me to re-size images, so it was either this size or huge lol.

I would definitely cal it "sweetheart" neckline. It is looking orange rather than yellow to me but perhaps its my monitor. Also the fabric has a moire pattern that you might want to mention.
