Anyone Seen This Before? Converts Fur Clips to Brooch...Also Squirrel Eye Candy!

I got this brooch/earring set yesterday and as I looked closer at the brooch I realized it was actually made up of 2 fur clips....

It has a piece slid over the clip backs with a pin on it.....anyone know what its called?

And got this, which I dont think is terribly old....acorn pendant & earrings by Paquette, the acorn opens up to reveal a little squirrel charm!

Any thoughts on that pin piece, or Paquette? Thanks!!!

I have a few of those dress-clip, brooch pins but don't know what they are called.

Coro called theirs duettes. Others called them clipmates.

I think officially the brooches that convert to clips are called convertible brooch clips - or close. Only Coro's are "duettes" and only Trifari's are "Clip-mates" although in practical use they are referred to as "Duettes" - same as Kleenex and Zerox.

Is it fur clips that have sharp pointed prongs that can actually piece the hide and dress clips that have wide backs that are dull but have small teeth to grab the edge?

You're right on Hollis - and the piece above are "dress" clips.

And how do we recognize shoe clips?

I would like to post pictures later (have to run out), to have a visual ID of each of the three styles. I don't know if I have fur clips, though.

And here are some antique cut-steel shoe doo-dads that apparently can be used as shoe clips, attached temporarily like you do modern clips, or buckles, attached permanently by stitching to wide straps on the shoe. Or so my research indicated.
