Approaching Estate Sale Proprietress

Happy Vintage Friday everyone!

I'm lookin' for some advice on approaching this lovely lady that runs estate sales. Particularly in regards to the vintage lingerie, which she typically tosses unless it's deadstock. How to approach her about it without skeeving her out is what I'm tryin' to figure out.:clueless:

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Writing a letter is always a good way of approaching a person if your not sure what they will say, then they can decide to contact to back, its always a good ice breaker and worked well for me
 
If she has a website w/contact information, I'd send an e-mail to explain what you're looking for and why (then hopefully she won't be "skeevyed" out!), then follow up with a phone call a few days after that. I wouldn't wait for her to call or e-mail you back, as these folks are usually so busy they just can't get to it... Good luck; hope something comes of it!
 
Based upon my experience helping my friend who conducts estate sales, I would recommend going to the sale and asking woman who runs the sale something like "Are there any __________ here? I collect vintage clothing and am always looking for ___________" I would suggest doing this a few times and eventually ask her if you could give her your card (with what you collect written on it somewhere), so that she might call you if she has someone who wants to sell some vintage clothes but doesn't have enough for an estate sale.
 
Thanks Anne!! I didn't even think about emailing her, I'll try that. Emailing will be soo much easier than trying to bring up such a delicate topic in person!! I don't think she has any idea about the lingerie & she does alot of higher end estates that I know had to have had tons more lingerie, based on the few things i've gotten from her sales :) She's only recently started keeping any of the clothing at all & I have a really strong gut feeling she'll be a great resource, IF I can convince her not to toss the lingerie goodies:cool:
