Aquascutum Raincoat

Purchased this beautiful Aquascutum raincoat from the charity shop today. It still have the belt and the belt loops are intact too.

I've checked the Label Resource but am guessing 1960s? Do you think that's correct and do you know the style?

I'm planning on getting it dry cleaned and selling it when I know for sure Thank you.

It is beautiful! I wish I could find when the Royal Warrant came off the Aquascutum label.

Oh, that is soooo cool! I love it. I'd go with late 70's too. The last royal warrant was issued in 1987 by the price of Wales so it has to have been before then. we can also fairly accurately date it between 1952 and 1987 as it has Queen + Queen mother as royal warrants

• 1947 Queen Elizabeth, Queen Consort to King George VI
• 1952 Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother
• 1897 The Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII

I see late 60s/ early 70s due to the colorway but I may be wrong.

It looks like the Aqua 5 water repellent was introduced in 1959 so that narrows the dates a bit from those based on the royal warrant

This is just the Queen Mothers warrant, not the current Queen, who has never given them a warrant. (The Queen Mother was also HM Queen Elizabeth) The Prince of Wales Warrant is not 1987, but 1897 (ie a previous Prince of Wales not the current one). If the Queen Mother's warrant was not rescinded, it would have been there until she died I think (2002). So the Warrant really just tells us post 1952.

You're welcome, it can get confusing knowing which royal is which. And then they go and abdicate or whatever.

Unfortunately we had to set up a time limit on editing posts, because of spammers, who sometimes create innocuous posts then go back later and add in spammy links.

I, too, see late '70s to maybe even the very early '80s (about '78-82, I guess we'd call that circa 1980) due to the shoulder yoke, colour and silhouette.
