I think that knit is 80's. That knit, light cream with the colourful flecks, I remember my Grandma having those, bought new, somewhere like bhs or a mail order catalogue. The shirt I'm not so sure, could be anywhere from 80s to last week.

You may be right. It's a hard call. To me the care symbols and the yarn say 80s, but I can't be certain on that.
Pastel Knits! That's what they were called, huge in the 80's, google search shows tons of stuff with that search term. I also agree it's a hard call, it could be a retro top made in the style of. I do have a feeling it's 80s though.

Its a discussion we have often with the crew here, usually over coffee - at what point does 'old clothing' become 'vintage clothing'? Disagreement often ensues.

Wine doesn't become vintage wine just because it is old, but yet clothing does.

I was born in the late 70's but, as a purist, I still don't regard the 1970s as being particularly vintage. 40+ years ago, which is a long time ago I know, but my line in the sand is still the end of the 60s. Ridiculous of me, to be honest, because anyone who is, say, in their 20s now would definitely think of the 90's as vintage. I read fashion and dress history at university and unfortunately I had it beaten into me - metaphorically - that anything younger than the Harold Wilson era was completely off the agenda. Silly really.

I suppose I resist regarding the 70s as vintage because if I did I'd have to admit I am vintage too, lol!
