Lately I’ve been really into vintage outerwear especially those classic cashmere capes and ponchos you’d see in mid-century fashion. I’ve noticed a few brands quietly bringing them back with a modern spin, and it got me wondering…
Were capes mostly worn for dressy occasions back then, or were they considered more everyday pieces too? And how common was embroidery or personalization on those styles?
I’ve been helping out with some product ideas over at Cashmere Custom, and we’re exploring cape designs inspired by older silhouettes trying to balance the vintage feel with softer, updated details.
