Are you going to a Halloween party this year?

If so, what are you going as?

And is your costume vintage?

No parties for me, but if for some odd chance something comes up, I can dress up as a gal from 72/73 head to toe complete with lime green platform shoes, or i can dress as someone from 1949. But they usually want you to be something rather than just someone dressing from that year LOL

lol!
i am supposed to be going to one tonight. i usually take the obvious morticia route because quite frankly any excuse to dress in ott eyeliner and have trumpet sleeves is fine by me!
although i have just given up on repairing a really lovely 50's prom which has innumerable breaks in the lace. after painstakingly restitching about 20 and then not being able to find the part i'd mended (far worse than i thought!) i am considering incorporating that into some kind of miss haversham outfit, as it is a bit wedding dressy but parchment coloured.

but the saddest thing is the x-factor (do you get that in the US/canada? like pop idol) is on tonight and i don't want to miss the result :BAGUSE: - if my 18 year old self could hear me now: mortified would not be the word...

I'm actually giving a party at our little vintage house. It's all decorated and very spooky!

My costume isn't very creative. I've been otherwise occupied this week, so I'll be dressed as CoCo Chanel. If there are any decent pictures I'll post them, and you all can see how I look as a brunette!

Harriet, do you have a VCR or something like TiVo so you can record it...and then don't listen to the radio on the way home to not spoil the results? No, we don't have X factor. We have a dancing version, a kid version, and now "can these celebrities sing?" version coming out.

Hee hee Lizzie - tell us if you feel any differently as a brunette. I have a long waist length auburn wig but i have to say it is really my mannis. i would have to borrow it.

My hubby and I are hosting a party this year. I love Halloween :love008: :love008: :love008: Any excuse to dress up (in vintage clothing) is great by me. We have a couple of Halloween piñatas (a vampire and a witch on a broom), eyeball lights, bat lights, spicy mexican candy, Day of the Dead sugar skulls. Did I mention that I love Halloween? :P

I'm going as an Edward Gorey character. One of his ladies in mourning. I found a long black lace dress from the 40s (Fashion Originators Guild!) that was in really rough shape. I have a dark bottle green Edwardian velvet jacket with the big leg-o-mutton sleeves to wear over it. I have a black, full brimmed edwardian hat - I think it was my grandmothers - that I'm draping with a black veil. And like Hattysattic, I'll be sporting thick black eyeliner.

Halloween's great!

Sadly, we aren't going to one. Halloween is almost funner than Christmas for our family. DH and oldest DS are outside right now preparing our graveyard. We just acquired a large rock as part of our ongoing landscaping project and it is the perfect backdrop for the big grave.

Will take pics for everyone aftern Mon. night.

There is a tortoise festival this weekend locally and they somehow try to link Halloween into it. I really like turtles and tortoises a lot, and my husband and i really enjoy having tortoises living in our neighborhood, but they don't really say " Happy Halloween" to me. I don't think they should try linking in the halloween costume thing with it and just let the tortoises be celebrated seperately. I hear also there is um...a fall steer drive bonfire thing tonight but we are not attending that.

I told you we lived in West Frogstump.

BooHoo! It's Halloween and it's dark and still no trick-or-treaters.:(

But from the party on Saturday. This is me with my nephew, Austin.

You look cute as a brunette, Lizzie.

No trick or treaters either. But last year was the same story, but we bought a few full sized candy bars just in case. Guess i will have to eat them all myself lol

Oh gosh, I had to turn off the lights when I'd given out 60 Reese's. Didn't do anything but shovel surgar at kids here in my urban neighborhood! Oh well, there are still a few for me!
