Army issue coat or fad coat???

Picked this up in a bag filled with older mens vests, tux etc. Wee bit small for the model. It's army issue khaki green, but I'm not sure if it's from the army as there are no labels save for one stapled muslin tag on the lining with the number 150 20. It can button both sides, has a heavy duty brown quality satin lining and leather basket weave buttons. The loops for the buttons are leather as well. The epaulets are missing their buttons.

Do you think this is an army issue coat or is it from the 70s?

THANKS!

On the military issue coats I've found there is a white tag very securely sewn in the back below the collar that tells what branch, what style, and the gov. contractor who made the coat -

And of course, the buttons are usually insignia metal ones - but they come off and get replaced also.

This isn't an absolute, but it's what I go by.

To me, your coat doesn't seem to have that "army issue" look - but I'm definitely no expert~

I stand corrected! Perhaps it is the real deal? The style is good and the finish looks nice too...army ones usually have some sort of labelling but it's not unheard of for people to pull them out. Does it feel like pure wool? If so, I vote for original 40s, although it might not actually be army, might just be a nice mens coat of the era.

I started to take pictures of the buttons and stitching and lo and behold I saw a hidden side pocket - they forgot to write the date, but it was made for a Mrs. A.D. Falkner; so it's a women's coat! And the label looks like it could very well be 40s. I would have to open the lining to get a sample for a burn test, but I'm 99% certain it's wool.
