Art nouveau compact frame

Hi, I found this art nouveau compact frame at the flea market last weekend. Has anybody ever tried to upcycle one of these?

Regan, that is beautiful. I admire your unending ability to unearth the treasures!

I would not think of altering/modifying/upcycling this piece in any way.

I agree that is a sweet piece. If you decide to upcycle it, might I recommend that you please use real antique fabric both inside and out for the purse body. Find some small pieces or scraps of antique fabric that date from the same time period as the frame, and it will be closer to a restoration and the frame will thank you for it.

Hi, thank you both for your thoughts. I was think of trying to find antique chain mesh from a damage purse, but my luck it would not turn out right, I think I will leave it alone.

The compact is a lovely find! I agree with Julie and Barbara, please don't try to "upcycle" it - please try to restore it.
