Does anyone have any information on Audrey's line?

I think this top is 50's, but I can't be certain!

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Sandi

From a 2000 newspaper article: "Robert Talbott Inc. opened in 1950...when Robert and Audrey Talbott arrived in Carmel, Calif. from New York City and Connecticut. Audrey Talbott was sewing one-of-a-kind bowties for their friends at Christmas, so her partner Robert Talbott got the idea to manufacture ties after leaving the Harvard Business School."

And from a 1980 article: "Thirty years ago Talbott and his wife Audrey started the business with a few sample ties which Mrs. Talbott made at home. Today they have two retail stores and from their factory in nearby Monterey they turn out more than 200 dozen ties per day. These are shipped to fine specialty shops all over the United States. Talbott Ties Inc. now is a multimillion dollar business...The Talbotts often design their own fabrics."

And from a 2001 article: "...the death of their three-year-old daughter from brain cancer in 1950...propelled the young couple to leave their home in New England and travel west in pursuit of another life. A year later...Robert began turning Audrey's bow-tie making "hobby" into a profitable business from a spare room in their Carmel, Calif., home. The niche business grew rapidly and only eight years later the first Robert Talbott boutique opened in Carmel. Over the next 27 years the Talbotts worked tirelessly to grow their business, adding a dress shirt component to the company and refusing to license the brand out of their control. By the late 1960s Robert Talbott was a respected American brand that had far exceeded the expectations of the couple...In 1986, tragedy hit the Talbotts again when Robert suddenly died...Audrey took over for her late husband and ...now serv(es) as the chairman of the board...in the 15 years since Robert Talbott died, Audrey has not only managed to keep the company afloat but has expanded the product mix with new categories and tier labels, and brought the total Robert Talbott retail stores to four. And in a neckwear market that is haunted by decreased sales, consolidation and promotional retail environments, Audrey has managed to triple the size of the company over the last 10 years."

...and from a 1999 article: "The neckwear company is run by Audrey Talbott, the seventy-something businesswoman...And while the roots and point of view are clearly American, its products, which have grown from neckwear to include dress and sport shirts...It was only this spring that it introduced a complete sport shirt line, which, unlike its neckwear and dress shirts, is made offshore."

Based upon the above information, then, your shirt may not date from the 1950s.

Love it. I have a 3 piece Talbotts suit with same script on tags. I do believe 1960s/70s. Looks like silk shantung also to me.
Quite prolific company IMHO. I really love the blouse and colors.
