Me again!!! woooo,, but not so much for date this time.. I saw it and thought mid 60s but union label dropped that a little bit so date wise I am safe assuming right at the 1960 mark? possibly late 50s? really looks more 60 to me..... but I took some shots of stitch lines to make sure.. Has a neat pleat on back of skirt (pictured)

Main question the rhinestones on the dress are all in excellent color... the metal backing are old and worn.. But I do not know if they came on the dress. do you think these were added later.the rhinestones are on a ?cord? or sewn together. and in few spots twisted/breaking so some do not lay right and appears as if they were stitched from top of strap then to the edge back to top,, kinda laying funny...
the dress is solid Velvet.. and nice and dark in color (fist photo) I lightened the rest of the pictures to "show" the lines.
would it be beneficial to the dress to remove the breaking stitching around the stones (easy to do) and restitch the strands back into place and more uniformly on the strap as apposed to the top side top thing they have going on? Or just remove them all together, thats what I personally think?

I know long question but this is such nice dress I want to do it the best justice I can....
Tagged Johnney Jr. and well amazing bust!!! pictures don't show... about a 27-28" waist and the bust... well still had about 3-4 inches after I stuffed my mannequin to a 38" lol
Made for Barbie or implants!!! lol

thank s every one for reading my book!!

really 50's :-) but am I wrong to think the dress alone looked 60s? but yea the more I looked at the bolero to the lower I htought but I didnt want to get too excited... lol so safe to say late 50's then?

I would say 50s too. Without the bolero, I may think it
was a cusper - late 50s/early 60s.

As for the rhinestones, I think you may be correct in that
they could have been added. I think the dress would look
fine without the rhinestones - to me they give it kind of an
80s vibe that is jarring (that is me though)

Nice set!

I agree with Kristine & Sue's dating, and I'd remove the rhinestone trim on the straps. They do look like they may have been added later, and the dress certainly doesn't need them to be "wow"! Lovely set!

thank you all!!! look at that i'm moving up... almost nailed the dating.. so i was right with mixed thoughts.. i would have listed it as late 50's early 60's but now i know "better"

and even more... I could tell something was added... :-) thank you all.. yall have been wonderful and so supportive of me learning!!! :-)

Thanks.....
