Bakelite buttons & dress

how do you determine bake lite buttons I cant seem to pinpoint it, here are the buttons in question. And not quite sure of the dress since there is no label , any guesstimates on the era the dress is dark blue velvet . Thanks so much

Those look like faux pearl buttons to me. Its hard to tell a date on the dress from your pictures. What do you think it is based on your research?

The buttons look like pearl vs plastic to me, too!

Without seeing the interior of the dress I would say those are pearlized plastic buttons and the dress is 80's.

I agree: I date the dress to the early '80s - I had something similar in 1982 with the same sort of lace collar. Looks like cotton velvet.
