Hullo Guys 'n' Gals,

In an effort to place a date on a suit I purchased today, I stumbled upon this most wonderous site and am surprised I had not found it sooner. My partner and I are avid collectors of vintage garments and today I stumbled upon a Balenciaga suit, which set my heart racing, however it's label was much different than the one I am more famililar with and which can be found on my check shirt. Through all my research I have been unable to pin point when Balenciaga began producing it's men's range, I have assumed it was after Cristobal's death, it's very unclear. So, I'm hoping someone here will be able to offer me some insight.

As far as I am aware, Balenciaga retired in 1968 and died in 72 (I think) so it is one of those post mortem licensed lines.

Well, I figured that. Apparently the Balenciaga name was bought shortly after his death by a German firm before being taken over again and re-launched in 1987. So I was wondering whether the label signified if it was pre or post 1987.

Through a little google searching I found another piece with the same double B.
