Bathing swim suit - 50s ?

Just want to double check if this is indeed a 50s bathing suit and if you would call it a halter - the tie goes around the neck and buttons down at the front. The back is all elasticized smocking.

Yes halter.
make sure you make note of the color of the buttons, if they are the yellow (apple sauce color) those seem to be better with the swimsuit buyers, I think it means the suit is older?
if the strap comes completely off you can also say it can be a strapless suit. Some are attached only on one side and some unbutton on both sides.
I'd say 50's is about right for that suit.

l think its a tad earlier, 1940's, the low cut legs, the ruffle, ruching etc.....l will find one...1940s swimwear

Oh Sara - you're a dear!!! That is "awesome" like the title says. Perhaps we were behind the times in those days as this was made here in Montreal by It's a Christina - and they only started in 1952. I'm working on the listing now so I'll say something about a late 40s styling...
