I don't know very much regarding uniforms, but I know what I like - and I really like that battle dress jacket! The quality and cut of garments like that are what I think give them that interesting spark!

If I read my US Navy book right, the top jacket is a service dress jacket, Petty Officer third class and the crossed keys mean Storekeeper.

You can look inside the breast pocket and see if there are any tailor's labels that might date the coat. The Navy hasn't changed this in decades.

My guess on the RAC jacket is that the 1953 is the date as this style 'Ike' jacket was in use through the Korean War. Again, check for any interior pocket labels as well.

I did look at the inside pockets and 1st jacket has a label on outside that states;
name; york d.r.
service no;
& code 066

& a label inside that states;
contract no, 6162 76
8405 00 150 2193
defense personal support centre

just the one label as shown in picture for 2nd jacket.

I did a google search, and It looks from the shoulder patch that you have a Royal Canadian Army Cadet jacket rather than a RAF jacket.

Dating the USN coat will be hard. I have seen that style as early as the 1920s and it is still current.

hiya Hollis, okay I know I might sound silly but is the USN jacket the second one? and do you know what that stands for?
I am trying to figure out how to list them, date etc..I wonder if the folk on the military board in UK would know..wish they had one for Usa and Canada.
ps I am in Canada if that helps.

The khaki coloured wool Royal Canadian Army Cadet jacket with the red maple leaf on the sleeve is easy to list as you have all the information you need with your pics and tags. Canadian military clothing is always dated which makes it SO much easier! So it is a 1953 battledress blouse (the term 'IKE jackets' is American, although the patterns were similar) and you have the size on the tag. All you need to do is add a condition report for holes and stains, and list it in either the WW2 Canada section or the Korean war section. Collectors will be looking at both. I think Hollis gave you all the info you need for the blue jacket. Unlike vintage clothing, military clothing is a lot easier to list as the buyers know what they are looking at. As long as you get it in the correct section and picture all flashes, pips, stripes etc. and include a good condition report you will never have problems with selling military clothing.
