BOUGHT THIS DRESS A YEAR BACK AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF 1940,S. HAS BEADED DESIGN ON TOP , GATHERED STITCHING ON LEFT SHOULDER, SMALL SHOULDER PADS, SIDE ZIPPER ON LEFT, THREE TIERES OF FABRIC WHICH BECOME THREE TIED DRAPES ON RIGHT SIDE. BLUE/PURPLECOLOR, FADED, HAVE BEEN LOOKING TO IDENTIFY, AGE,...MAKER....HOME MADE? BOUGHT IN PA.

Very pretty dress. Agree with the others as to 40s. Looks like Rayon Crepe which does tend to fade/discolor. It could be homemade, is there a label?

It's lovely, and I agree with 40s. The blue and purple dyes of that era tended to be unstable and have a tendency to fade toward red over time, especially in areas that were exposed to more heat during wear or storage.
