Beaded Top?

Does anyone possibly recognize this sequin top? Beads with drop larger beads. Metal zipper.
I believe this is 1960s/70s and it is very heavy. The lining all appears to be hand sewn and done very well. Very wide bell sleeves.

I wouldn't know who made it, but I would say late 60's to early 70's and it sure is very Abba-esque!

Are the lower parts of the sleeves original to the top or were they added?

It appears to be 60s with, as MS asks, added chiffon cuffs.

I am not sure. The photo with lace tape shows how it is connected. The second one is of how it is sewn inside by hand. I am thinking this whole thing is hand done. It is exquisite and again very heavy. Would not see the light of day if I was younger and slimmer. Double chiffon tiers.

The beaded top does look like a commercially made knit top. Most are labelled as being made in Hong Kong etc. The lace would suggest the sleeves were added and this was put on top to cover the join cosmetically and/or prevent fraying of raw edges.

I agree with the others: I see a mid '60s beaded and sequinned top from Hong Kong with added chiffon sleeves.

I would sell it with the chiffon and say it was added at a later date.
It is more eye catching with the sleeve treatment.

I have always found these imported bead tops to be wonderful quality - all handstitched, nice and heavy - generally in fantastic condition too!

Another vote for 60s Hong Kong top with added cuffs (which IMO add quite a bit of pizazz!)

As Melanie says, the quality of 50s/60s Hong Kong beading (on purses as well as clothing) was typically topnotch, and your exquisite top is no exception. The beading was hand done--can you say "painstaking"?
