Found this beautiful dress yesterday. I believe it's an 80s dress modeled after a 20s style. Very deco to me. Has silver beads and sequins on a thin blue fabric. Not sure what that fabric is though. Is this about right?

Help with pricing?

Hi,

I recall these being seen at a lot of weddings, banquets, and holiday parties in the late 80's and early 1990's. I agree they usually were made in India, or a Far Eastern country.... Done on silk, or rayon silk blend, or rayon to resemble silk. I do not think it is a dress, it is way too short...I think it is a tunic to be worn with a matching skirt or slacks. That butterfly motif in the center was extremely popular, and usually had a lot more sequins or beads sewn on that part. I see this type of thing at a lot of consignment and thrift shops here in LA. Pricing depends on the amount of elaborate beading or sequins, the style, color etc. Yours is pretty, although a bit on the plain side for these.

I see a lot of these in thrift stores here in Miami as well but I never buy them because they're not really my style and there's just so many of them but I like all the elements in this one. They all work towards my taste. Might keep it for myself but if I can price it well enough, I might sell it.

Thanks for those photos.
I think 80s, as you suspect.
Here is some Talk of the Walk history, and you'll see when the Atlantic City store opened:

Agree with Barbara, as to the probable possibilities for content.
And also with the fact, that many of these were even more heavily embellished. In fact, I have one that is weighty with
embellishment, in an aqua blue.

Can't quite discern whether 100% silk, or rayon, or blend, from photo.
