After hearing about the Notting Hill (London) store '0ne' from a friend who's a regular, I visited the website for the vintage label Mamie that is stocked in the store (as well as Harrods, amongst other places) - Wow! You must have a look at the website when you have time www.mamiedesigns.com

Here's an extract from the 'about us' section of the site:

"Our style is based on the individuality of each model and our team of specialised seamstresses never repeat an identical piece!

Our vintage fabrics and accessories generally range from the 1920s to the 1960s and will have been used in one or many other contexts before, therefore snagging and uneven beading is common. It is this link to a past history which bestows every Mamie piece with a magical allure."
 
so is it vintage or make do and mend vintage l'm not clear!!! high end merch? but what??
 
That's right Hattysatic! Every single item is constructed out of different vintage materials and consequently no item is the same - "therefore snagging and uneven beading is common.". The clothes are very beautiful...have you had the chance to look at the site?
 
so if i got this right they take vintage clothing re-design/re-work them including the snagging/pulls ?

even though they are pretty.. but way out of my price league....plus i would personally prefer original vintage....with the make do and mend alterations.....

but as i say very pretty
