I'm not familiar with the brand, so I checked for ads on newspaperdotcom but found no references. S0rry.

Thank you for the kind words, Alice, but I would argue that point with you. Much genealogical digging taught me to be more expansive in my searches, which is of great benefit. In this instance I wasn't sure if I should search for "Bender & Kohlstad" or "Bender and Kohlstad," but it seems Google is smart enough to return results with both forms. Nonetheless, I wasn't sure, so I just did a search for "Bender" "Kohlstad" and up came many hits for their store in Seattle. I was running to the museum when I posted above but I *think* I saw something about it being a menswear store. I will check later.
