The costumes for the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button are brilliant. Jacqueline West, the designer has put 'real' back into the feeling of period costuming - understated, perfect.

I was pretty excited for this one to come out as I sold a few really choice suits to them. I don't know about what the main characters wore but there is real period vintage involved. I still haven't seen it yet but am hoping to this weekend. Glad to hear the costumes were good. I know what I sold them was cream of the crop mens vintage.

The suits you sold Lucy, whichever ones they were - did the business. Great job! Jacqueline Best is up for a BAFTA Award and I would hope is a nominee for an Oscar.

I read your BLOG Jonathan and with respect, I couldn't disagree with you more.

As a costume designer working in the film industry for almost 30 years I have to say that the costumes were successful because they didn't dominate the story. It's actually not about the clothes. When you look at the production values of this film they are pretty seamless. This was a story about an unusual person but set in the context of an ordinary life. I think the costumes reflected that and that's why I used the words 'real' and brilliant.

My review wasn't intended to be negative - I was pointing out that this is not an epic but rather a low-key romance where there are rarely more than two people on screen and when there are, they are usually background filler in wardrobe. Its really a movie about wardrobe not costuming and they don't give out Oscars for wardrobe. I liked her costuming when she had a chance to actually do some but there were few scenes where that occurred.
