Bernetti New York 1950s?

Found a 1950s Bernetti wiggle dress that is all black.
I am thinking it may of originally had a bolero or shrug with it. It is a crepe fabric.

Silly ? perhaps but was there a good girl/ bad girl difference in shrugs?

I have looked at many ads of the time of them and some have buttons and/or close and some do not.
This wiggle dress leans more to bad girl so would like to find a proper shrug.
It has spaghetti straps so thinking possibly more Spring/Summer fabric to go with it? Lace? Satin?

I need to steam it and having issues with sizing my photos for here with my updated Iphoto. I used to not have an issue. I will try.

Ok, here are photos. The oddest slash on each side of the hips. Not pockets but goes all the way thru. Perhaps a sash or fabric went thru here? Reading VFG for this designer they made lots of beaded clothing. As this is so plain perhaps a beaded shrug or something. Very dark black and photos lightened to show.

The only reason I know of a slash through like that is if it was a two piece, with trousers for example, so you can get to the pockets.

Hmm. I do not think one could wear slacks under this. There are no pockets. It goes all the way thru from one slash to another but it is all lined. Mystery. Thanks.

Not a pouch either. When one reaches in on one side they can reach out of the other. It is all open or under the dress.

Why I was trying to find a matching rude bolero. Red perhaps?
It does go to the underneath and there is lining there.
Seriously is this just a design or could there of been a sash or something?
I guess my original ? could be with spaghetti straps is there a different bolero?

The dress also has a leg slit up one side.

There is a dress by this maker on etsy with one side slit like this.

I still think it's a rude dress - perfect for those swinging '60s parties when you want to cop a feel.

Can't think of any other justification for large pocket like holes that just enable access to your thighs. This is not the sort of dress that would have pockets anyway.

hmm...Now how to go about listing it. I think I will just say it has a slash on each side and leave it at that.

I guess this was a bad girl dress.:oops:
