Better Pics of my 40\'s dress

I have taken some better pictures of my dress, any more info/advice you may have will be gratefully received.

I was thinking the applique was velvet, but was not "reading" velvet for the rest and assumed it was just regular silk. I would guess that maybe that is one vote in favor of silk velvet.

Is there a burn test that would determine if it were silk velvet versus synthetic?
 
If this is from the 40s, as I think it is Anna, I think it would be silk velvet.

Anna, I'd say late 40s, post war, 1946 - 49. It' s possible it's silk velvet, it's also possible the dress is a rayon taffeta with rayon velvet.

I have two patterns that are very similar, and both are from 1948.
