Birdcage Veil

Any ideas of the age? Was told it was from the 50’s. I got them with them pretty shoes that are from the 50’s. So just wondering.

That is a very pretty little whimsie or whimsy (spelled both ways at times). I agree about early 1960s.

I personally would not refer to it as birdcage veiling. Although I have see that term "birdcage veil" thrown around a lot in the past few years, that really should apply to a specific type of veiling. Traditionally, birdcage veiling has a much larger pattern and is stiffer. The veil on your topper looks like a classic diamond pattern mesh veiling, with chenille puffs.

I do see that many sellers of veiling, new or old, now call almost all of their veiling "Birdcage" veiling. So the term has been adopted today to refer to almost all veiling it seems, but I am a traditionalist! At the time your hat was made, it would not have been referred to that way.

It is really pretty, I love the color and soft feminine look of it.
