Really a neat little purse. Made by JR, USA. What would that material be called..something like burlap but not scratchy.

Noticed Chris' post about JR on another post. I am really confused.

I'm not sure what to call this Linda. I took a pic and sent it to a friend who is great with fabric names. I hope she's not too busy at work to have a look and let us know.

JR produced a very wide variety of styles. They went from having Jr of Florida on their logo, to JR of USA and JR : Made in China...all the same "font" in usually gold letters...

I was confused on mine just because i knew they were around in the 50s, but really never heard they were around in the 40s.

Hmmm...on yours...

Jutte?

but you say it is smooth...i had a clutch purse awhile back that had that kind of weave and it took me a long time but i found it was very very tightly woven, fine raffia because i later found something else very similiar.

this could also be a wool blend...or what was it that was said before some type of synthetic...i will have to go look through my notes on what exactly the name of it that was suggested, but it had that weave...

i know my thoughts are not making sense but i am a bit green right now...

Thanks, Kevin and Chris!

Well, Marie has said it is tweed, so I am going with that but if you find out something different or something I can add, please let me know.
