Black lace gown... 30s?

Is this lace dress 30s or 40s? I have such trouble discerning between those two decades. Too bad about the one damaged button. There are no labels/tags of any kind. It has a side-snap closure and some sort of stiffener along the inside of the hem.

That's a bit of a tough call. The top looks more 40s and the bottom looks 30s...might be a cusper.

I am sure some others will come along with their opinions.

It looks late 30's to early 1940's to me. A possible fix for the button. Take off the bottom loop, tack the placket down if needed, then move that good button up to replace the one missing the setting.
I have a black bias slip from that time period (not listed on my website)that could go under the dress, if you need one.
