Hi, y'all. I'm sort of at a loss with this one. Is it a robe with a specific purpose/use/cultural history? (It reminds me of a choir robe) Or just a gorgeous jacket? And, when/where is it from?

Not sure why, but something about it makes me feel like I should post it here to try to get some more info.

Things to note:
--has pockets
--open front
--very stiff outer fabric
--see photos for topstitched and interior construction details!

Any information/ideas are much appreciated! Thanks so much!
