Ha, that's exactly what I want to do too! I have vintage scarf laying around here that's so cool that I immediately thought that I wanted to make a top out of it. Oh well, as soon as my sewing table has a bit more free space! ;)

I've seen a really cute top made of a scarf that requires no sewing.
You can use a chain, or a wire circle choker style necklace (I hope you know the type of necklace I'm describing) tuck a corner over the necklace part and pin in back, then just tie the two corners behind your back. It makes a really cool halter style top.

I love those dresses, however my "to sew" pile is so big already, sigh

^^I do that^^ at my shop. Did a whole window once with solid color skirts and scarf halter tops. But I never did get around to making a dress.
