Blog vs FB?

Social media is like a fickle lover.
Yanking the chain with changes constantly.
I used to blog and then when FB came along basically forgot about it.
This year I have paid small amounts to be featured on my fan business page and have noticed something very interesting lately.
Not only do I get more traffic from customers though short lived I can see posts from other businesses I follow.
This is alarming to me as I did not realize I had not been seeing many, many till I pay.
Is it just me and has anyone found any remedies I am missing.
Hope this is ok to discuss here. If not please delete.
I feel some blogs coming on.

I have posted a few blog post on my FB business page if this is what you mean.
I am most concerned with how I do not see the other business pages.
Definitely a pay to play now. I see Twitter is also trying to push ads.
Hard to explain but if I pay I see all the other business pages and not just a few.
I know personal folks can hover over the like button to then get timeline posts from a business page but a business page cannot do this with another business page I do not think. Almost forced to use personal name to follow businesses I am thinking.
Which I will not as my personal page is personal family and few friends.
Even grouping together as vintage sellers I think FB is now nixing.

As I paid last few days on FB and so see other business pages coming across my timeline I commented on one. Now there is no way to see who or what page I commented. So annoying.
 
It is very frustrating. I've heard many complain that the only way their page "reaches" fans is if they pay. I think you have to be very active with your likes and comments on the pages that you want to follow before they will show in your timeline. I pop back and forth between business page and personal account in order to see everyone. Like you, I reserve personal account for family and friends and comment or share from business page only. Even then, I know I miss so many interesting posts. Although I do enjoy Facebook, I'm not sure it is all that beneficial.
 
Back to this again.
Now that The Find is going to join with FB (not sure when or what that means) it makes me even more unsure of validity of social.
Does anyone know anything more about this?
Seems many of the usual places to be social are less so lately.
The vast variety of places to be IMHO is spreading all vintage out too much.

I refuse to pay. I don't know that it actually produces fans or sales, so I steer clear.

The people who've "Liked" your Page because they actually like it have already expressed an interest. They can ensure they see yours posts by "Liking" or commenting on something. And they need to click "Get Notifications," too. Otherwise, eventually your posts disappear from their feed. You have to remind them. And yes, of course, if they aren't seeing posts, how can you remind them to like or comment? Catch-22. But, a few will see it and do so each time, and the more they do it, the more of your posts will be shown to them.

Paying for visibility, and especially for "Likes," gets you "ghosts" -- Likers who don't actually "Like" your page (or vintage) and add nothing to your business. If FB shows the posts to THEM, while limiting the total number of views, then those same posts will NOT be shown to "real" Likers!

Marketing/social media is a constant, uphill battle, and more than a little bit exhausting. I just trudge along, hoping that satisfied customers will tell their friends. I'm most proud of my repeat customers. It means I'm doing something right. But getting found and staying relevant is a slog, indeed.

As for blogging, I do it, but not daily and not regularly. It's more a "when I've got something to say" sort of thing. I tend to make my posts personal, as more experienced and expert enthusiasts than I are already covering the "this designer" or "that trend" aspects of the field.
