When I originaly picked this up out of the pile and thought it was 40s.

It is deffinately cotton, but then after looking at the label and the length I think its 60s but I am still not conviced it is 60s, the sleeves seem a little older and the stitching, but I don't know stitching so I may be way off.

It has a banded waist in the front but not the back and the label says made in bermuda. It is VERY long as you can see, I have the mannequin set at about the heigth of a 5'7" woman.

So please confirm that this is 60s :-) so I can put my mind at ease :-)

Thank you all

late 60s or early 70s (can't see if that's a print or broderie anglaise?) would make sense to me - the seamstress tailoring probably accounts for the 'better' stitchwork?

but do wait for soemone else to confirm, I am feeling rusty..

very pretty! :)

It is broderie anglaise on the sleves and neck :-) thank you for the new term... I had no idea what to call it hahaha you answered an unasked question floating around in my head :-) thank you...

Yeah Im pretty sure its 60s, I hadn't really thought 70s but I can see that too,, I just know "of" the woman I got it from and by then her waist size was much bigger, I had gotten the age on alot of her clothes by the waist size so I had qucikly grouped this one as older but then once looking at it I decided its newer so to speak. The long metal zipper and the label especially! I only wish it fit me :-)

I got stuff from an estate once and just assumed things got bigger as the years went on (waist). I had a few mystery dresses that seemed out of sequence as far as gradually increasing in size. People can fluctuate. The gal went from skinny to some of the clothes being bigger as she was post maternity. Then they got a little skinnier again, then they got bigger, and then they got smaller but not as quite as it was in the beginning, and then larger. It could be that she slimmed down for awhile. Oh and then the styles changed. Some of the 60s shifts and stuff were a lot bigger in the waist because they were looser. So that threw me off when the clothes suddenly got smaller and fitted in the waist again.

oh i know... she never had children though and i have a complete record of photos she was wealthy so i have BOXES of photos from the late 1910s until the 70s or so, this was the only thing really out of order :-) but any who, whos not to say it wasn't for a cousin or family friend :-) or someone had it made for her and shipped it to her? guess i;ll never know.... still think its 60s but I wanted to be sure before I listed it :-) i like her 60s stuff it fits me (well pre preg lol) i might try and keep it for after this baby lol couple more weeks yay!!!!
