I'm boggled by broadtail!!! I have a coat and I'm trying to identify the fur. I've been researching but I'm just not getting it. I can't understand the difference between...broadtail & persian broadtail...knuckled curls & moire curls?? (duh, should be stamped on my head!)

I THINK the coat I have is broadtail but it's blond and all the broadtail I've seen is dark. (Persian?? karakul??) It has big puffy rings of long fur trim. Mouton? It's so unbelievably soft and silky. It's really well tailored too.

I'm guessing 60's because of the big pink round buckle and pink mother-of-pearly like plastic buttns.

If anyone could point me in the right direction...or tell me if I'm off my rocker for that matter...it'd be much appreciated!!

mouton trim??
broadtail or processed lamb??

thanks Anne! I really lucked out with this find!! It used to fit me...maybe it'll fit again someday. *fingers crossed*

patentleathershoes: I've looked through the VFG fur resource ton's of times. (it's one of my fav. places!!) I keep second guessing myself. I always think of mouton as being shorter/thicker...like sheared beaver. The trim on this coat is quite long and a bit kinked but really really soft.

I wonder..can broadtail be blond? could it have been bleached? Is that even possible or am i bein' silly??

Yes, broadtail can be blonde and it brings big bucks. I don't know if it's dyed or naturally blonde, but it is very desirable. I remember some huge sales recently. I don't know what kind of fur the trim is.

I found this on ebay. It seems to be the only one at all similar. It's mink with blonde broadtail trim.
