Bold and Beautiful!

I'm a huge fan of bold prints and bright colours. I've got a couple of garments here that will guarantee centre stage attention! If you've got vintage with bold and beautiful prints, I'd love to see them. Wallflowers need not apply!

Late 60's/early 70's Hostess Dress by Susan Small (England):

Wow, I love your bold prints! :headbang: My mom does too - she's just been here, on the way to do some big-city shopping, so I had somebody to take photos of me. Never mind my hair though - I admit, I have the day off and literally got out of bed and just pulled it together so it wouldn't fall into my face...:spin:

puccisummer.jpg

A cotton Pucci summer skirt, one of my proudest finds (well, it was expensive too... but I told myself, hey, it's a Pucci :adore: ).

70stunic.jpg

A very, very synthetic tunic. My mother had a good laugh when I showed it to her - she used to have things like this. I love it and wear it a lot, mostly with black jeans. The good thing is - it's easy to wash and dries quickly :hysterical:.

And a very bold pop art jacket! It's probably not that old, and maybe home made, but I found it in a secondhand shop, and fell in love with immediately. It's light, so it's nice for summer. It only goes with simple jeans though, this star must stand in the limelight alone! :drinking2:

Fabulous prints Karin! And, there's nothing like good old polyester for keeping things bright - and crease free! Perhaps not the most desirable of vintage fabrics ever but I love the wild prints of the 60's and 70's and as we can see, they're still very wearable today. Good point about the fact that they come out of the washing machine almost dry. Great news for the liberated woman! :) Thank you for posting. :sunshine:

These have been sold but I am always picking up new bold pieces as I seem drawn to them.

First is a lovely silk vintage 80s Hanae Mori dress that has dancers all over it:

This is one of my favorites - A Vintage 70s Lanvin longsleeve shirt dress that has Bastille Day in Paris all over it.

I will be listing some items that are pretty bold in the coming weeks - I have some great batiks (the real deal from indonesia) and this 70s maxi

Micro Mini dress 1960s (it's made like a dress, but my does it ever look like a shirt!)

I'd wear that micro mini as a tunic with black jeans, as I do with mine. Can't be much longer than my tunic - and probably just as much poly? Anyway, it's absolutely great :adore:. Love those colors!

By the way, my mom showed me the new Burda magazine today. Lots of paisley prints! But none as bold and beautiful as the vintage ones here.

These are all great photos! Thank you very much for sharing them. I've got to say, the Lanvin frock is pretty amazing!

What a brilliant selection - keep 'em coming!

I agree, that is a fantastic print on the Lanvin!

Nothing beats the vintage colors, I have some FAN-TAS-TIC vintage fabrics, and I know they're not new b/c they just have that summa -somthin' about them :) Bell bottom jeans for the whole family!! Whoohoo! :)

I finally went through my "needs mending/alteration" bag yesterday - after having reorganised my doll collection, I am now going to get my vintage clothing straight. Anyway, I had totally forgotten about this one:

polytubedress.jpg

Isn't it fab? A 1970s poly tube dress (it really feels like a tube - it's rather tight!). It's ankle length. No idea why I put in that bag, it needs no mending, and I'm not going to shorten it. Somebody must have already shortened the sleeves and altered the neckline anyway, by the looks of it.
(Sorry, I'm not gonna pose today - got out of bed an hour ago :icon_dante: and don't feel like getting all styled up :BAGUSE: ).
