Books on vintage

I am relatively inexperienced when it comes to Vintage...

...and am looking to extend my knowedge. Most books I find unhelpful in relation to caring for pieces or spotting good pieces.

What books do you find helpful?

I just got (today!) Jonathan's book, which you can read about on the home page. I've already drooled up a few pages.

Is there a particular topic on vintage that you like? Hats, dresses, designer, shoes, war-time, Victorian?

My favourite periods are the thirties fourties and early fifties...

...but any books I have found on those periods seem amateur- with only pictures, lacking detail
