I was told 50s, but I really do not know my vintage fashion from 1930+ that well so could anyone help me get a more defined date on this dress I bought please? :)

Sorry, I see big differences in those two dresses: the first looks like a strapless gown, appears to be silk taffeta, probably bespoke or couture - while the second is a softer satin, maybe polyester and more modern with a different bodice and neckline.

Both have full skirts with underskirts of nylon netting though, so there are similarities.

Thank you Nicole!

Sorry yeah the skirts threw me off, the bodices are obviously different. There wasn’t a picture of a label inside the green dress I bought. So I’m honestly not sure where it came from. Are there certain signs that point to it being a couture dress?

I would expect it to be custom made, ie bespoke or couture. Without a label, it's impossible to determine whether it was made by a couture house as there were some very skilled dressmakers at the time, who used top-notch techniques.
