This sheath dress looks very simple, but it is incredibly well made and the fabric is like a soft polished cotton. I just spent 30 mins googling this label and found a ton of scarves and reference to the Jacqmar company going back to
the 40s, but not really any info.

Has 11" slits at the hem side seams.

    long metal zipper at back

    Here is the label:

Is this early 60s? late 50s?

anyone? I would love to find out more about this dress and the
company. From what little I could glean on google Jacqmar is/was a
respected establishment, and rather upper class.

I don't know anything about this. But since it is called a Jacqmar fabric, maybe they were a fabric manufacturer and someone else made the dress, and the label was long gone, and the manufacturer thought enough to showcase the fabric. just like we can recognize Pulitzer fabrics, etc..

the second thought would be they were a clothign manufacturer that were known for their textiles, scarves, and then ended up making dresses as a cross market.

those are just uneducated hypotheses of course.

i hope someone has the real answer.
