Bullocks Wilshire Fashion Archive Dating Help

Hello,
As some of you already know Southwestern Law School has amassed a wonderful collection of Vintage Bullocks Wilshire pieces to create a 300+ strong archive of Bullocks Wilshire fashions throughout the decades. However, some of these pieces came undated and it would be absolutely wonderful if some more knowledgeable fashion historians could date some of these pieces.

The Fashion Archive is online at
https://www.flickr.com/photos/swlaw/albums/72177720308162359/with/52885419073/
and is intended as a resource for anyone interested in fashion history or Bullocks Wilshire history!

The more dated pieces the better! Also, most of the dated pieces were the dates given by the sellers and if there is any obvious wrong dates please let me know as well. Any item with an identifying number starting with 10 means it has not been dated. Please feel free to post in this forum with the item you can date (approximate dates are good too) or to email me at [email protected].

Many Thanks!

I would say the peacoat is latter part of the 1960s
Red St John I think is 80s
Emerald green velvet something like 1974

Sara,
As I remember, the building was bought by the law school. Is this correct?
On the first page of the Online Archives, there is a Davidow jacket. Based on its construction--the lining does not cover the backs of the bound buttonholes--this is an early Davidow. I'll check my files for an approx. date, but the photo shows the patent #. Davidow held patents for this single layer construction at the jacket opening and collar. The first of these was in the 40s during WWII.
Bullocks Wilshire had the first Irene boutique and the suits were very expensive.

Hi Sara,

Agree with the others on dating.

So happy to have one of my pieces in this wonderful collection. It is currently labeled as a velvet jacket. I would label it as a 1960s faux fur dress. Not sure if the designation is only for identifying and labeling the pieces in your photo album but I just wanted to clarify.

Hi Claire,
Yes that is correct, I work for the law school which has been the entity collecting the clothing, they wanted to have some real material from the buildings history to display inside the building. Let me know what you find out about the Davidow jacket, I'm happy to send you more detailed photos if that would help!
Thank You,
Sara

Terri,
Thank you so much for noticing! It must have been a temporary placeholder name that never got changed once I had the paperwork (sometimes I got the clothes first and the paperwork afterward so I'd quickly give it a name just to have it recorded). The name will be changed but it might be awhile because I don't control the flickr page so I only send her updates once I have a whole bunch of them, but it will be changed.
Thank You,
Sara
