have been checking out library book upon book imbedding myself in button research..but it all boils down to two catagories..."I like" or "I don't like"
But these were so beautiful like jewels I think I have to share and ask... anyone recognize these little darlings?
2 huge flower petal buttons. smooth milk glass petals, green blown glass center topped with a sparklestone. They are double shanked back!

about 1/2 inch high.

good pick of the double shank on the top button.
As always help is welcome!

They are lovely and remind me of the elements in some late 1930's early 1940's jewelry but I really can't help other than agree that they are very pretty!

I would actually have suggested they weren't buttons, with those two loops they look more like an embellishment that was to be sewed on, two points of attachment keeps something heavier like these more securely attached and aligned the same way. It's possible they were to 'front' a different closure method behind but I don't think you would have put those flowers through a button hole.

Linn, super at everything! Thank you. I too feel they are 30's early 40's. Looking at the base metal do you think it's potmetal?
Pinkcoke I do believe you are right poking those babies through cloth t'wont be easy! Any suggestions as to how to label them?

Difficult! how about:
Two 1930's 40's green and white blown glass flowers with diamante centres for dress or shoe embellishment.
they would suit either purpose, perhaps as large earrings too for the right person?

They would need large ears!!! I Love the desscriptors!! Thank you.

I asked my button buddy/king about these - he said - "
Hmmm... close call. Sometimes things with double shanks like that can be considered buttons, but sometimes they're trim... if they could conceivably be sewn onto a garment in such a way that they could pass through a buttonhole, then it's relatively safe to call them buttons, but usually the two shanks are set closer together...
