Calling all fur experts - Llama or Alpaca ???

I think this is llama, but, but, but...

The fur is in great shape, but it sheds. Would you know if there is a treatment that can be done to stop it from shedding?

Many thanks!!!

If it is Alpaca, it's the Huacaya variety - found this little tidbit:

There are two types of Alpacas, the Huacaya and the Suri. The main difference is the length of their soft fur. The Huacaya has springy fur that stands out instead of hanging down. The Suri, on the other hand, has a long, soft fleece that hangs over its eyes and drags down below its body.

Thanks Harriet! I don't believe I've shown this before although I've had it for many years. I showed a sheepskin one like this a few weeks back that is now making its journey to Poland; so you're probably thinking of that one.

I am no expert on furs so don't take my word for it. It looks llama to me. We have a couple of people here who raise llamas. They just had two babies and the cutest was black and white...he had a little black eye...we called him Bandit. Anyway, they sold him so we cannot enjoy looking at him anymore.

Back to the subject... their fur looks like this. :)

Thanks, Linda!! Oh dear, I just listed as Alpaca. It's been a while since I was up close to either of these animals, (spit at by one a while back) but this coat does not have the length of fur that your llama link has - it's much shorter ??? In the meantime, I'll keep searching and perhaps someone else will drop by.
