Can any North Carolinians help with a NC tourist scarf?

I think this scarf is just gorgeous, and I think I've got most of the landmarks named!

I've identified the UNC Old Well and bell tower, the Duke Chapel, the state capitol, etc...but I can't figure out what the modern building in the upper right corner is.

It's definitely the most modern building on the scarf and I was hoping that I could use it to help figure out when the scarf was made. It also has a "Thalheimers" label, which was apparently a regional department store that went defunct in 1992.

Anyone familiar with North Carolina that can point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Well I am researchign Frank Lloyd Wright because it looks to be that influence... which was the 50s mainly? I think but he never made any in NC? so I am not so sure

It's the North Carolina Museum of Art, which is in Raleigh. The building looks mid-century, but was actually built in the 80s. They just finished a huge expansion, which I'm dying to see. As far as state art museums go, it's one of the best.

The building really has a Bauhaus flavor - at least on the scarf. I wondered if The Architect's Collaborative in Cambridge, MA did it but I looked it up and the original building (1983) was designed by Edward Durell Stone, a very well known American architect who designed Radio City Music Hall and The Museum of Modern Art in NYC. (Original bldg.) Here's his bio on Wikipedia:

Jennifer, I was thinking along the lines of those mid-century guys like Frank Lloyd Wright, too!

Thanks Lizzie and Linn for the positive ID - it looks like a really lovely museum. And that definitely makes the scarf newer than I thought it might be, but no less charming. I'm sure there's a NC native that will really enjoy it.

And boy, does Edward Durell Stone have an impressive resume! I have to admit I was surprised to see my own state capitol in Tallahassee, FL among his works...I can't say it compares with the likes of MoMA and Radio City, but it does have its own charm. It's also got quite a local reputation for it's...erm..."suggestive" shape, but it's ours and we love it :)

Thanks again, everyone!
