Can anybody tell me anything about this coat & Label \"Morlaine\"?

I've searched and searched but nothing! It looks vintage, it smells vintage, but is it vintage? I'm wondering if it's even real at this point because of the lack of info on it, like none! Help, please.

Hi!

Yes, this is definitely vintage with that full silhouette and elbow length
sleeves, late 50s, maybe early 60s.

I also did a search on this label and could not find anything, however there were many, many smaller manufacturers/shops/designers that it is very hard to find information on - but it is still real :D

Someone may still be able to give you some info on the label.

OH, cool, so it is vintage! Also, I failed to mention that there are no buttons or zippers or straps or anything to keep this coat closed. Is that normal for this type of coat in this era? Thanks.

Ohhhh, that is such a pretty blue! This is what you call a clutch coat..with no buttons to fasten. I agree with late 50s, early 60s. Can you get a closer picture of the fur? Is it mink?

Im not sure what type of fur it is, it doesn't say anywhere. I'm not sure if its even real or not, how to tell? It feels soft and looks real, but.... Did they make alot of these with fake fur back then? Here's the close-up. Thanks

I would call this a clutch coat. i have had several and you just had to "clutch" it closed. Sometimes the style was worn over fancy dresses and sort of wrapped around to not risk crushing the dress like a zipper or a very figure hugging buttoned coat would.

I don't know the fur, but there are photos in the fur resource to compare...

It says in the "fur resourse page" uner mink fur "Better pelts are found using the touch test - look for silky guard hairs (longer hairs on top) and even-textured under fur (the thicker, shorter fur underneath the guard hairs.)" This perfectly describes the type of fur on this coat! But wouldn't it say mink somewhere on the coat if it was mink? Hmmm....

not all coats are marked especially if its just the trim, and fabric content was not alway required to be marked even though in modern times it is. We get (and ask) questions all the time on fur i.d,'s because of it.

Thanks for your help chris and everyone else, if there's any other info you guys find, please let me know.
