Can anyone hel me Identify this item? is it from the 1800\'s?

Hello! just want to say thank you' in advance for viewing this post, I had purchased this item the other day at the local 2nd hand shop in upstate ny and was looking for help in finding out more about it, i was actually thinking could it be from the 1800's??? it is a 100 all leather vest red and blue with the stars white from the underside of the leather, it has a Label as shown in the link and 38 stars on the top part of the vest...I know nothing about it and was wondering if anyone thinks it could be from the late 1800's as i cannot find anything out on the label, no company or address has helped as of yet, the leather seems hand cut and the sewing is uneven this is all i know, the leather is strong and thick, no missing fringe and somewhat faded in areas. i hope i do this right ...here is a link to the photo album of the leather vest...hope this helps identify it;) peace and blessings donna

this is a really cool piece, but

i don't want to be the one to burst your bubble... that appears to be very 1970s: the colorway, the fringe, all very bi-centennial inspired, i would say, so 1976, most likely.

It's kind of neat that a garment could span both 1960s counter culture and 1970s bicentennial patriotism. It's all in the context it's worn!

well, i guess christies will get a good laugh at me;)...thank you sooo much and sooo sorry to have wasted your time..lol..i guess i have to keep searching for that great deal;)you guys and girls are wonderful blessings to you all;) i did see one similar but see the bold colors and thought..hmmm mine seems soo much older, but the company wouldn't still produce them in the 60's and 70's..so i see its must be from the same era;) thanks again! you guys rock! :drinkingtoast:

Not a waste of time at all! And that is a very cool vest, dont underestimate it. ;)

exactly!

i didn't mean it wasn't valuable (it is!) i meant that it's just not as early as you were hoping it to be.

it very much reminds me of Easy Rider...made in 1969...
