Can anyone roughly date this rocaille bead necklace? :-)

Hi there!

I wonder if anyone could give me an idea of what era this necklace is?

It's gold rocailles (seed beads) and red opaque glass beads.

Many, many thanks,

Roxy xx :love008:

I think it's 1920s and meant to be worn singly a la flapper or one layer short, one long. Interesting color combination.

Hey!:bouncing:

Thanks for your post Hollis:bouncy:

Sadly, I couldn't get it to fit on the scanner without doubling it!

Thanks again,

Roxy that's lovely! And thanks for the rocailles info - I never knew that (not a jewellery person, although I buy enough!)
Hi Hattie,

I love the word 'rocaille' - just something about it makes me feel.... well, I don't know! Perhaps I am mad:booze:

I also make my own bead pieces and rocailles are mainly what I use.

I make a lot of wrist/neck bands on a bead loom.

Here's one I made:love008:
