Can anyone tell me anything about this brooch?

Cute little brooch made of a slice of painted wood. Has an overglaze which has cracked with age.

I found only two similar examples online, both of which were attributed as Mexican. But those have little Mexican-style scenes, one a man with a donkey and the other a family sitting under a palm tree. The paint style is similar to this one. But I didn't find any example with this type of fruit or similar theme.

Does anyone know where it might have originated, or approximate date? I'm thinking maybe c. 30s?

Also wondering what the type of hinge would be called. I can't find it described in any webpages that discuss brooch hinges. It's basically a short cylinder that the pin is set into. The pin rotates but doesn't lift.

Thanks in advance!

In my admittedly limited experience, the hand-painted tourist souvenir pins from Mexican have had something that really spells Mexico, either literally the word Mexico, or, as you say, a very Mexican image. I think of painted wood novelty pins as dating from the 1940s, but you may be right that it is slightly earlier. I can't make out the clasp but usually they have simple fasteners.

It is metal. It is a C clasp, which is why I thought it might be a bit older. And as mentioned, the hinge is unusual, at least I've never seen one like it and can't find any online.
